History Made! Jaromir Jagr Oldest NHLer To Score Hat Trick
Jaromir Jagr scored his first hat trick in nine years to pace New Jersey to a convincing 5-2 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night.
In doing so Jagr became the oldest player ever to score three goals in one NHL game.
The 42 years, 322 day old Jagr bested Gordie Howe's record he has held since November 2nd, 1969 when he scored three goals at the age of 42 years, 217 days.
"I like to score hat trick, but I don't like (being) the oldest guy (to do it). I don't want to be the oldest guy, but I'm glad I scored,” quipped the grey-beard Jagr.
For Jagr it was his 15th career hat-trick. His third goal was his 714th career goal, moving him to within three goals of Phil Esposito for fifth on all-time NHL goal scoring list.
