Order of Canada Appointees Includes Cole, Kennedy and Foran

The Governor-General of Canada announced on Friday 95 new honourees to the Order of Canada.

The hockey world, as often is the case, was well represented. Long time Hockey Night in Canada announcer Bob Cole, former player turned sexual abuse advocate Sheldon Kennedy and Rocket Richard biographer Charles Foran were all appointed as members.

The Ottawa Citizen caught up with the legendary announcer Bob Cole in the following interview:

Q: When did you hear about the Order of Canada?

I had been taking a little bit of a holiday between games down in Florida. When I came home, I checked my messages. Who would ever dream of something like that? It’s mindboggling. I’m honoured and flattered.
