Former NHLer Eddie Kachur Passes Away


Eddie Kachur, a member of the Chicago Blackhawks for two seasons in the late 1950s, has passed away.

Eddie Kachur was a long time minor league scorer in the 1960s, most regularly with the Providence Reds. He got his NHL chance with Hawks in the 1956-57 and 1957-58 seasons, scoring 10 goals and 24 points.

Mr. Edward Charles “Eddie” Kachur, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospice on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Eddie was born on April 22, 1934 to Michael and Clara Kachur. He grew up in the East End, where along with attending school and church, he spent as much time as possible on the outdoor hockey rink. Eddie enjoyed a successful hockey career, culminating with his time spent with the Chicago Blackhawks of the N.H.L. Eddie was inducted into the Rhode Island Reds Hockey Hall of Fame in 1973 and Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of fame in 1998.
