Canadian women's hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser has been elected to the International Olympic Committee's athletes commission.
The commission is a 12 member board that consults with the IOC specifically about the athletes concerns regarding athletics as well as travel, accommodation and security.
Wickenheiser and Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjoerndalen were elected by peers from all nations for 8 year terms today. They replace Canada's two-time cross country skiing medallist Beckie Scott and Finnish hockey player Saku Koivu.
