Great Moments In Hockey History: Don Cherry's Too Many Men On The Ice Call


May 10, 1979: Time was running out on the Montreal Canadiens' attempt to win a fourth consecutive Stanley Cup until Guy Lafleur's blazing slapshot beat Boston Bruins goaltender Gilles Gilbert at 18:46 of the third period for the game-tying goal in Game 7 of their Semifinal series. Lafleur's goal was scored on a power play resulting from a bench minor penalty assessed to the Bruins and head coach Don Cherry for 'too many men' on the ice.
