This Day In Hockey History: March 27th
1952 - Rookie Johnny Wilson scored the winning goal while Terry Sawchuk recorded his second consecutive shutout for a 1-0 Detroit win over the Maple Leafs, in Game Two of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals at the Olympia.
1974 - Boston Bruins became the first team in NHL history to win 50 (or more) games four straight seasons.
1982 - Rookie Bernie Nicholls scored third hat trick in 10 days as the Kings beat the Colorado Rockies 9-4 at the Forum.
1985 - L.A.'s Marcel Dionne became the third player in NHL history to reach the 1,500 point plateau, as the Kings lost 4-3 at Calgary.
1992 - Jari Kurri scored two goals and an assist to give him 1,100 career points in a 4-4 Kings' tie with the Jets, at Winnipeg.
1993 - Doug Gilmour's first of two assists gave him 118 points to set a new Toronto team record for most points in a season.
1996 - Toronto's Larry Murphy had a goal and an assist to become the 4th defenseman in NHL history to score 1,000 career points as the Maple Leafs won 6-2 at Vancouver.
2001 - Chicago Blackhawks announced that Alpo Suhonen was stepping down from his position as head coach, due to health problems. Assistants Denis Savard and Al MacAdam were named as co-coaches for the rest of the 2000-01 NHL season.
