Hockey History Photo of the Day: The Flower Nets 50
The night that Guy Lafleur joined Rocket Richard and Boom Boom Geoffrion in the 50 goals in one season club is the night Guy Lafleur cemented his legendary status in hockey history.
March 29 1975 - Lafleur became the third Montreal Canadiens player (and eleventh NHL player) to score 50 goals in a season. Rocket and Boom Boom both had exactly 50.
The very next night Lafleur would strike again, setting a new team record with his 51st goal of the season. He would finish with 53 that season, and scoring over 50 goals in the following 5 consecutive seasons too.
By the way - Three of the six times Lafleur hit the 50 goal mark he accomplished the feat against the same goaltender - Dennis Heron!
