This Day In Hockey History: Sept 2nd
1967 - Hockey Hall of Fame inducted it's newest members: Walter "Turk" Broda, Neil Colville, and Harry Oliver, along with referee Red Storey.
1972 - Team USSR defeated Team Canada 7-3 in Montreal, in Game 1 of the historic 1972 Summit Series.
1976 - Canada defeated Finland 11-2 in the first Canada Cup Tournament game.
1999 - Minnesota Wild named Doug Risebrough as the first General Manager in franchise history.
2003 - Kirk Muller announced his NHL retirement after 19 seasons in the NHL.
