1969 - New York Rangers obtained veteran goaltender Terry Sawchuk from the Detroit Red Wings, in exchange for Larry Jeffery.
1989 - Hartford Whalers traded Sylvain Turgeon to New Jersey in exchange for Pat Verbeek.
1989 - At the NHL Draft held in Minnesota, the Quebec Nordiques used the first overall pick to select Mats Sundin.
1990 - Gil Perreault, Bill Barber, and Fernie Flaman were named as the newest members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
