1973 - Goaltender Ken Dryden recorded his first career playoff shutout to lead the Canadiens to a 4-0 win at Chicago, in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
1976 - Reggie Leach scored 5 times (to tie a record set by Maurice Richard), and extended his goal scoring streak to 9 games (breaking Maurice Richard's record) as the Flyers beat the Bruins 6-3.
1982 - The Canucks beat the Blackhawks 6-2, advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals for the very first time.
1995 - Winnipeg Jets retired Thomas Steen's #25 jersey in a post-season ceremony held at the Winnipeg Arena. Steen became the first Swedish player in NHL history to have his sweater retired.
1997 - Hartford Whalers announced that they were moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, where they would be known as the "Carolina Hurricanes" beginning in the 1997-98 NHL season.
