This Day In Hockey History: April 30th
1945 - Hockey Hall of Fame elected it's first group of players and builders: Hobey Baker, Chuck Gardiner, Eddie Gerard, Frank McGee, Howie Morenz, Tommy Phillips, Harvey Pulford, Hod Stuart, Georges Vezina, and Lord Stanley of Preston.
1986 - Edmonton Oilers' defenseman Steve Smith inadvertently scored into his own net at 5:14 of the third period, and the goal stood up in a 3-2 Calgary win over the Oilers, in the 7th game of the Smythe Division Finals.
1994 - Pavel Bure scored twice, including the winner at 22:20 of overtime to lead the Canucks to a 4-3 win over the Flames, in Game 7 of the Western Conference Quarter-Finals, in Calgary.
1997 - Mario Tremblay announced his resignation as Head Coach of the Montreal Canadiens, after two seasons behind the bench.
