Some of sports biggest stars smoked, including Joe Dimaggio, Mickey Mantle and Arnold Palmer. Smokers in hockey included Guy Lafleur, Denis Savard, Mike Bossy, Mario Lemieux, Pat Quinn, Al Iafrate and Steve Larmer.
Not that we're endorsing smoking, of course. Most people have wised up to the health dangers of smoking nowadays. But back then no one thought too much about it. In fact, it was so common place, just about everybody did it. Check this out:

My older brother used to collect cigarette packs. All brands and flavors. Fortunately he never smoked, but my grandfather did. A lot !
