This Day In Hockey History: Nov 9th
1954 - Boston traded Joe Klukay to Toronto, in exchange for Leo Boivin.
1957 - Montreal's Claude Provost scored just four seconds into the second period to set an NHL record (later tied by Denis Savard) for fastest goal from start of a period. Canadiens beat Boston, 4-2.
1971 - National Hockey League announced that it had granted a franchise to Atlanta, to begin play in 1972-73.
1988 - Father David Bauer, founder of the Canadian Olympic hockey program, died at the age of 64.
