This Day In Hockey History: Nov 4th
1971 - L.A. Kings traded Dale Hoganson, Dennis DeJordy, Noel Price and Doug Robinson to Montreal in exchange for goalie Rogie Vachon.
1977 - New York's Phil Esposito scored his 600th NHL goal in a 5-1 win over Vancouver. Esposito became the third player in NHL history (after Howe and Hull) to score 600 goals.
1983 - Montreal traded Robert Picard to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Winnipeg's 3rd round choice in the 1984 Entry Draft. The Canadiens used the pick 7 months later to select goaltender Patrick Roy.
2003 - Mark Messier scored twice to give him 1,851 career points, passing Gordie Howe for second place in the NHL career point list, as the Rangers won 3-0 over the visiting Dallas Stars.
