This Day In Hockey History - Sept 8th

Harry Lumley, Gump Worsley and Jack Butterfield
1972 - The Soviets take a 2-1-1 lead in the 1972 Summit Series with a 5-3 win in Vancouver. After the game Phil Esposito gave his famous speech to the nation.

1980 - Gump Worsley, Harry Lumley, Lynn Patrick and Jack Butterfield were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

1982 - Yvan Cournoyer, Rod Gilbert, Norm Ullman, and Emile Francis were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Happy Birthday to Rogie Vachon, Jack McIntyre, Marco Sturm, Norm MacIver, Teddy Purcell, Jay McKee, Paul Dipietro, Trent McCleary and Pierre Sevigny.
