June 1, 1992 • In the first NHL game ever played in the month of June, the Pittsburgh Penguins captured their second consecutive Stanley Cup championship with a 6-5 win over the Chicago Blackhawks at Chicago Stadium. The Penguins, who won the best-of-seven series 4-0, tied an NHL playoff record by winning their 11th straight game in the post-season.Mario Lemieux led all playoff scorers and joined Philadelphia goaltender Bernie Parent as just the second player to earn back-to-back Conn Smythe Trophy honors.
