Pucks On The Net

Here's a few thoughts heading into the first weekend of playoff hockey.
  • Carey Price's game one shutout was the third of Price's playoff career. All three shutouts came against Boston.
  • Price was 0-8 with a 4.27 goals-against average in his last eight playoff starts, dating back to 2008. His eight-game postseason losing streak was the longest by any goaltender in Montreal Canadiens history.
  • Ryan Miller's 1-0 shutout of Philadelphia marked the third time in Buffalo Sabres history that the team won a playoff game by that score. The other times were by Bob Sauve at Montreal in Game 1 of Buffalo's first-round series in 1983, and by Dominik Hasek, in four overtimes nonetheless, against the Devils in Game 6 of a first-round series in 1994.
  • It is absolutely great to see the re-awakening of IllegalCurve.com. When it closed up shop a couple years back I really believed that they had surpassed Kukla's Korner for news from around the league.
  • Scott Niedermayer went to the top of the CN Tower in Toronto on Thursday. He did it the hard way - he took the stairs! All 1776 of them! It was all for a good cause.
