The Scotiabank Hockey Club is kicking off The Big Save contest. The idea: teach kids about teamwork through hockey and about saving money. Two worthwhile causes which is why I have agreed to support this cause.
The grand prize will be to send one lucky youth hockey team to Whitehorse, Yukon for Hockey Day In Canada in 2011. Prize includes: airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, meals and lots of fun activities - a grand prize worth $45,000. Here are the full details and entry form.
For supporting this initiative, the nice people at Scotiabank have given me this Scotiabank Hockey Club prize pack to give away to one lucky reader. Here's a look at the prize pack treasures that can outfit the entire family.
How can you win it? Simple. In the comments section of this posting, tell me your favorite Canadian hockey memory. It could be the Sidney Crosby's Golden Goal. Or Jayna Hefford's epic goal at the 2002 Olympics. Or Gretzky to Lemieux in 1987. Or Henderson scoring for Canada way back in 1972.
A winner will be randomly selected from amongst the commentors. So enter today. Contest closes on November 30th, with a winner annouced on December 2nd.

too many to list, so I'll go with the latest... winning double gold medals (men's and women's) on home soil at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
1996 World Cup of Hockey! ;D
1991 Canada Cup. I know it does not resonate quite the same, but I will always remember Bill Ranford's theatrical goaltending and Steve Larmer's big goal and Eric Lindros' big debut!
I'm old enough to remember the Trail Smoke Eaters win the World Championship in 1961 for Canada.
Sidney Crosbys OT winner at the winter olympics. Sitting and watching in my canada jersey with my 2 toddlers who both cried when I screamed when he scored.
The Golden Goal!
Don't forget about the world juniors - Jonathan Toews shootout heroics, Jordan Eberle's last second goals, John Slaney's big slapper....
Nothing will ever be able to match the dramatics of 1972.
I was not born until 1976, but every good Canadian hockey fan knows 1972 was the ultimate.
In terms of the tournaments I've seen, 1987 may have been the best hockey I've ever seen played.
2010!
2002 - when both Jarome Iginla and Cassie Campbell - Scotia Bank spokespeople - won gold for Canada!
Nobody else has mentioned it yet, so I'll go with 1984 Canada Cup. Coffey breaking up that 2 on 1 and Tonelli and Bossy setting up the famous goal.
I Should say the 2002 Olympics or the 2008 World Championship in Quebec City. I Know Russia wins but it's was the closest i got from International players
2010 rivals 1972 because of the dramatic final goal.
Helping my grandson ,teaching him how to skate and passing the puck back and forth when he was three
2010 baby! The Golden Goal!
Bill Barilko scoring the OT winner in 1951 cup final is the ultimate hockey memory!
The Windsor Spitfires coming back and winning the Memorial Cup in 2009
Greatest Canadian momemt? Hearing the words "TERRAC BC" when announcing the 2009 Canadian HOCKEYVILLE Winner!!!!!
The Golden Games!
Not quite Team Canada, but Montreal vs the Soviets on New Year's Eve is my favorite memory.
I was camping near Orillia one September weekend and made my boyfriend drive to Parry Sound, just to see the Bobby Orr Community Centre rink. There was a game going on between two kids teams and it was everything good about hockey all together in one place, at the same time. Local grassroots hockey, a hometown hero, and memorabilia to boot.
BEN SAID
