Montreal fans are known to be demanding of their beloved Canadiens hockey team. It is not a recent trend either. Here Rocket Richard talks about the unforgiving fans during the Canadiens 4 game sweep of the 1944 Stanley Cup finals:
"We had won the first three games easy and when we were behind in that fourth game, at the Forum, the fans were getting on us about not trying hard enough. Maybe they thought that with a three game lead we were tryiing to stretch out the series to five of six games. Anyway they were yelling "Fake, fake, fake," things like that. That really roused us. I got the two goals to tie the score near the end of the game and Toe Blake got the winner. That shut them up, those fans."
