Most people have a soft spot for huge underdogs. Maybe that's why I cheered on Norm MacIver so much. At 5'11" and 180lbs MacIver was a small defenseman by NHL standards, but he often carried a big load on his shoulders.
In some ways current Ottawa rookie Erik Karlsson reminds me very much of MacIver - an undersized Ottawa defenseman trying to direct the offense while surviving in the big man's game.

I will always remember him for scoring the final goal in Jets history against the Wings in 96 during Game 6.
