Hockey History Last Night

  • Vancouver's 7-1 win over Montreal marked the largest winning margin ever by the Canucks over the Canadiens. In the previous 117 regular season and playoff contests between the two the Canucks have enjoyed four victories by four goals, but never more.

  • When Phoenix shut out Pittsburgh last night it marked only the 9th time since 1990 that the defending Stanley Cup champs were shut out at home in the month of October. Three of those nine times it was the Phoenix/Winnipeg franchise that accomplished that feat.

    Whoever wins the Stanley Cup in 2010 better fear the 'Yotes next October!
