The professionalization of hockey did not occur so much in major cities, but rather tough mining towns. This photo is of teams from the gold rush town of Dawson City, Yukon.
In 1905 one of the greatest stories in hockey history played out, as a team from Dawson challenged the mighty Ottawa Silver Seven for the Stanley Cup. The Klondikers had to travel through snowstorms by dog sled, stage coach, train, boat and even bicycles. Full Story
