This is the great Guy Lafleur in much happier times. He is celebrating a Stanley Cup victory with his father.
Today was not one of Lafleur's happiest days. The hockey great was found guilty of giving contradictory testimony while under oath at his son Mark's bail hearing back in 2007.
Under Quebec law the maximum sentence for this crime is a 14 year jail sentence. However Lafleur will not likely go to jail. His defence lawyer is seeking a fine, while the Crown has asked for a conditional sentence.
Here's the full story. Here's more from Dennis Kane and Eyes On The Prize.

I generally like your blog and have read it from the time i found it and contacted you a while back.
Anyway, i'd like to know if you sympathize with the post on that other blog? And do you think that it's a suitable post and content in this context?
If you dont want to write about it here let me know and ill drop you an email if you have a few spare minutes. Enjoy the playoff run!
I assume you mean Dennis Kane's post.
It would be incredibly sad to see Lafleur go to jail. He was protecting his son, and I'm sure if any of us were in similar situations we would also go into protective mode.
Lafleur was wrong. He will not face any jail time as the prosecutor is calling for a suspended sentence.
Lafleur has already paid dearly for this. His name has been tarnished more than any regular Joe's would have. Throw in the unnecessary warrant and handcuffs episode where the police were completely off base, I think a fine is all that is needed here.
