Check out this out of this world GOAL magazine cover. It's from the June 1979.
As much as I liked it, I did not really know how I could included it in a piece. Then my friend Cornelius Hardenbergh from Hockey Blog Adventure sent me an email.
"You may have heard about this back in 1996, but it's been over 10 years and I just found it, and thought I'd share it with you.
Robert Thirsk, an astronaut, brought a Bobby Orr jersey with him on vSTS-78 and recreated "The Goal." NASA still has a picture on their website of it. I don't know if you'd really want to do anything about it, but I found it interesting."
You're darn right I found this interesting. Lately it seems that hockey has been reaching every corner of this earth - and beyond.
Thirsk's recreation of Bobby Orr's famous goal can be seen here.
