Habs Inside/Out is reporting that Montreal Canadiens legend Jean Béliveau is doing well after falling ill today. A sudden drop in blood pressure forced the retired hockey great to a Montreal hospital. He was later released and is said to be fine. He will undergo further precautionary tests in the days ahead, but there is no reason for concern.
Which reminds me of a Christmas story I never got around to passing along to you last week. The Montreal Gazette's Stu Cowan interviewed several Habs greats about their favorite Christmas memories. Here's what Mr. Beliveau had to say:
"I remember being on a train going to Boston with the team and one Christmas Eve, around 11:30, the train went through St. Jean and I remember seeing people walking toward the Church," he said. "We were probably playing on Christmas night, and on the train there were not too many people besides the team. Those are moments I will never forget."
