Phoenix Coyotes defenseman David Hale ended the longest goal drought in NHL history from the start of a career by a forward or defenseman, 230 games, when he scored the first goal for Phoenix in its win at Columbus on Wednesday night.
The previous record was 217 games by Terry Murray (now the coach of the Kings), who scored his first goal in March 1981 for the Flyers.
