In 1985, while playing with the New Jersey Devils, he set a NHL record (matched 5 years later by Pittsburgh's John Cullen) by registering 5 assists on opening night of the regular season.
Two years later Adams, now playing for Vancouver, had another opening night to remember. Adams scored 4 times, equaling the modern day record for most goals in a season's opening night (Rick Blight 1976, Chris Kontos 1992).
Despite those two great opening nights, it is Pittsburgh's Kevin Stevens who holds the record for most points on night one. In 1990 he had 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points against Washington.
Who will make the biggest splash on (North American) opening night tonight? Post your guess in the comments section. The schedule is posted below.
I'm going to guess Pavel Datsyuk with 3 points.

By the way, the newest profiles here at Greatest Hockey Legends.com are of Greg Adams, and, naturally, the other Greg Adams. I remember when the two played together with Vancouver - and you thought today's announcers had it rough with the Sedin twins!
Speaking of the Canucks, don't forget prior the puck drop at GM Place tonight, the Vancouver Canucks will pay tribute to the memory of Luc Bourdon.

I think it'll probably be someone on detroit, based on the fact that they're playing toronto. Let's say....Zetterberg. Or actually, toronto will guard him closely, how about franzen instead.
