It's Gretzky, NOT Gretsky!

People People PEOPLE!!

What is it with Wayne Gretzky's last name? Okay, I admit it his last name would be great for Scrabble but a tough one for the uninitiated.

But c'mon! Regardless what you think of him, his name has transcended the sport worldwide like no other. No one is more associated with the game of hockey.

Yet people still have trouble spelling his name! I'm not even worried about the little kids and vaguest of fans. I constantly see bloggers and especially all those message board trolls misspell it. Every once in a while I'll catch someone in the mainstream media actually do it.

Gretsky is the most common misspelling I see. Greatzky, Gretzki, Grektzy.

I guess I should not rant too loudly. Even the New York Rangers misspelled his name on a jersey. By the time anyone realized it, it was too late. Gretzky played the game as "Gretkzy." Walter Gretzky holds the proof in the photo below.

People, seriously. If you're going to go online and pose as a hockey genius by imparting your wisdom with the world about the greatest player in hockey history, you have to spell his name correctly. You have no credibility whatsoever when you are spelling it Gretsky.
