Now it is time to get back down to business. Of course the first thing I have to do is catch up with the news while I was away. Here's the latest edition of my little segment that follows the news former NHL players. I call it Catching Up With The Past.
Thomas Steen To Run For Seat In Canadian Parliament
I like Thomas Steen a lot. On the ice he was an honest, hard working center with good leadership abilities. He was an extremely underrated talent who bled Winnipeg blue.Now the Swede apparently is running for election in the upcoming Canadian federal election:
From the Globe And Mail: "The Winnipeg Free Press quoted unnamed sources yesterday as saying the former NHL player will run as a Conservative candidate in Elmwood-Transcona, a seat up for grabs since long-time NDP MP Bill Blaikie will be retiring. The newspaper reported Mr. Steen is to formally announce his intentions Friday to coincide with Prime Minister's Stephen Harper's election call expected this weekend."
Good for Thomas Steen. Ottawa could use a good ol' Canadian boy in office, even if he's from Sweden.

The NHL announced that former Red Wing and Hockey Hall of Fame left wing Ted Lindsay is one of four recipients of the 2008 Lester Patrick Trophy for outstanding service to hockey in the United States.
