In the December 25th, 2007 issue of The Hockey News, Stu Hackel writes about a Canadian indie rock group's tribute to Gump Worsley.
The Weakerthans have written, recorded and released "Elegy for Gump Worsley" as part of their recent CD release The Reunion Tour. It is actually not a song so much as "words spoken to banjo-led accompaniment." You can visit The Weakerthans website for lyrics and music downloads.
This isn't the first time the Gumper has been immortalized in song. Huevos Rancheros, another Canadian indie band, authored "Gump Worsley's Lament." Sons of Freedom named their second album "Gump" in honor of "The Whiskey Man."
