Governor General Michaelle Jean has recognized 25 year veteran NHL linesman Ron Asselstine for his work in the community.Since 1984 Asselstine has been very active in his hometown of Guelph, Ontario, participating in charitable endeavors which help children with disabilities, injuries and illnesses. Asselstine's favorite cause is the Guelph Wish Fund for Children.
For his work, Asslestine receives the Caring Canadian Award.
