Former NHLer Ed "Sonny" Kryzanowski has died.
A solid defensive defenseman, Kryzanowski was a NHL veteran of 237 games in the 1950s mostly with the Boston Bruins. He finished his career with several seasons in the AHL.
Before joining the NHL, Kryzanowski captained back-to-back intercollegiate hockey championships at the University of Toronto where he also starred on the school's rugby team.
Former Varsity Blues teammate Don Bark had great admiration for Kryzanowski.
"With his dazzling speed and stick-handling, he controlled the ice."
Bark was inducted into the Varsity Blues Hall of Fame in 1995, and made it his mission to include his buddy Kryzanowski. It took over a decade, but the Hall finally opened it's doors to Kryzanowski in 2006.
