Canadian Women Win Gold, Again

Canada reclaimed the women's world hockey championship with a 5-1 victory over the U.S. Tuesday night.

Canada, winners of the Olympic gold medal last year, made amends for losing the last world championship two years ago to the United States in a shootout.

Haley Wickenheiser, Canada's captain and considered to be the undisputed best player in the female game, was named the game's top player, tournament MVP and best forward by the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The inclusion of women's legends here at my legends network is overdue, although in all honesty most of the best female players remain active. Still, next season I hope to have profiles for the likes of Cammi Granato, Cassie Campbell, Manon Rheaume and others.
