My all-timer is the Habs sending Bill Collins, Guy Charron and Mickey Redmond to the Red Wings for the Big M in '71. It's my opinion that he had as much to do with their surprise Stanley Cup win as did Ken Dryden. In the day, it turned out to be a very good deal for both teams, as trades should be, with Redmond becoming a 50 goal threat. In the good old days, all the hype came after the trade, and not leading up to it.
