Most Searched For Players - The Surprising Results

One of the neat things about logging traffic is the opportunity to see which players attract the most readers.

I decided to tally the page views thus far for the month of February. While the exact order may vary, I can attest that most of these players would make the top 10 list for any month in the past.

So here's the top 10 player views at Legends of Hockey Network. The results are surprising.

1. Bobby Orr - No surprise, #4 is always near the top.
2. Stan Jonathan - This fighter is always in the top 10. Far more popular than I ever anticipated.
3. Ken Dryden - Recent jersey retirement helped push him up this month.
4. Mario Lemieux - Again, no surprise. But there's no Gordie Howe or Rocket Richard, and that is a surprise.
5. Bobby Hull - The Golden Jet got a real boost on Thursday. Someone linked up directly and brought in lots of traffic.
6. Bob Probert - Former bad boy remains popular. The YouTube fight videos draw fans.
7. Wayne Gretzky - Probably the only list 99 doesn't top, but usually ranks higher.
8. Alex Faulkner - Those proud Newfies keep coming to read about their favorite son. Like Jonathan, he's always in the top 10, which just amazes me.
9. Gump Worsley - Gumper's death spurred lots of interest.
10. Tony Esposito - One of the newest biographies posted, Tony O is proving to be a popular addition.

Oh, by the way, the least viewed biography in the first week of February is Nikolai Sologubov over at my International Hockey Legends channel. This actually saddens me, as Sologubov was a great Russian pioneer and I felt I did a good job with limited English resources.

Most hockey fans and even the experts will pick Viacheslav Fetisov or maybe Sergei Zubov as the greatest Russian defenseman in history. Some might try to impress by mentioning the names, with good merit, of Alexei Kasatonov, Alexander Ragulin or Vitaly Davydov.

But the most researched experts know the title of greatest Russian defensemen is a coin toss between Fetisov and Nikolai Sologubov.
