Thanks to HabsInsideOut.com, the Guy Lafleur Disco Album will be making the blog rounds today. This old 1979 CBC report was recently found on YouTube.
Guy Lafleur - CBC describes him as "the Baryshnikov of the hockey rink" and "a man who really knows something about Saturday Night Fever" - released a hockey instructional album set to disco music.
Groovy man!
Eyes On The Prize has as good of a biography on the late Bill Masterton as you will ever see. I should get this guy to write for me, but I can't pay him.
Just days after celebrating the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs, grocery chain giant Loblaws has announced they will be turning Maple Leaf Gardens into modern grocery store. In their press conference, Loblaws, which as owned the building for several years now, said "(Maple Leafs Gardens)is an icon, just like Loblaws is an icon." With all due respect to Loblaws, yeah right!
As they said in the 70s folks, catch you on the flip side.
