The Boston Bruins are honouring one of their all time greats for 50 years of service.“February 13, 2007 will be a special day for all of us here in the Hub of Hockey,” said owner Charles Jacobs. “In our own special way we hope to honor the wonderful contributions that John Bucyk has made to the Bruins and the City of Boston over the past 50 years. Hail to the Chief!"
Bucyk is a hockey hall of famer and ranked by The Hockey News as one of the greatest 50 NHL players ever. Yet somehow his legacy seems somewhat overshadowed by much flashier players of recent generations. Its nice to see the Bruins honor Bucyk, their one time captain and holder of many records who now serves as the team's road services manager.
