"The Puck Goes-insky" Buzinski

When Sugar Jim Henry left the New York Rangers to serve with the Canadian Armed Forces in World War II, coach Frank Boucher was left with a big hole to fill in his nets. He found 5'7" and 140 lb Steve Buzinski, a grain and cereal expert who also played goal with Swift Current in a Saskatchewan senior league.

The experiment did not last long.

"Buzinski was the most bowlegged goalie I ever saw in my life," remembered Boucher. "When Buzinski stood in front of the net you felt that he had already been shot full of holes. He wore a pair of old tattered goalie pads that curved with his limbs like a pair of rawhide cowboy chaps."
